Why do mosquitoes sting some people and not others?

Answer:
they are after blood and some nutrients within. soft, sweet, exposed skin is what they land on. so, it depends on how one is dressed. in an absolute emergency swarm, try the best to unexpose all skin and cover. i don't think they sting cigarette people much, not sure why.
