i had the centre of my bottom lip pierced 2 years ago and never had any problems before but recently its been really sore i dosnt look bad just red im seven months pregnant could that be ssomething to do with it?
Answer:
Being pregnant can make the body react to metals- and so to the piece of jewelry that`s being worn.
pregnant bodies do not tolerate strange objects and materials well-as a defencemechanism to protect the baby
even though its been pierced for a couple of years you could help to clean your piercing with a mild seasalt-solution:
make a solution of a quarter of a litre of boiling water and a half a teaspoon SEASALT or BAKING SODA.
more of the salt or soda works less.
put this solution in a cup and put the cup for 20-30 seconds against the piercing, so the piercing will soak in the solution.try to move the jewelry a little while you are doing this.
rinse off with warm water.
do this 1 or 2 times a day.
salt water soaks helps to stimulate air and blood circulation which helps healing (because now your body is probably rejecting your piercing due to change of blood with the baby, or it could be infected)
if i was you, i would just take the piercing out until you have had the baby and your hormones are all settled down after :)
hope this helps you

It hurts cause you allowed someone to stick a ruddy great needle into a place that ruddy great needles shouldn't go !
sounds like it is getting infected. And as your blood is shared by baby now, I think you should take it out to prevent a bad problem
This can be ruled out as infected see your doctor fast
It sounds like it's getting infected. Be sure that you are cleaning it really good. You don't want any infection spreading to baby.
your immune system is more sensitive when you're pregnant. its an infection, but maybe you should take it off for the baby. and get it checked by a doc
Okay, so you've got a hole in your lip, which means it's open to all kinds of bacteria from both your skin, and the inside of you mouth. I don't think this is anything to do with you being pregnant, but please get it looked at in case of infection, to protect your baby.
Good luck and happy parenting! :D
its probably an infection
You should go see a doctor about it. It could be something serious.
Sounds like an infection to me - it might have nothing to do with your oral hygiene or pregnancy at all, possibly a little bit of bacteria got in there and since it's warm, moist and inaccessable, it's the perfect conditions for an infection to spring up.
It could also be a reaction to the ring/stud/whatever you have in your lip. maybe an allergy - just like what can happen if you wear earrings for too long and you start to get red, itchy, sore ears.
You should pop along to your doctor and let him/her have a look see and get fixed up - might be an idea to get rid of the piercing though. Non harm in being safe.
Congrats on le baby! =)
