Why does it hurt?

i had the centre of my bottom lip pierced 2 years ago and never had any problems before but recently its been really sore i dosnt look bad just red im seven months pregnant could that be ssomething to do with it?
Answer:
Being pregnant can make the body react to metals- and so to the piece of jewelry that`s being worn.
pregnant bodies do not tolerate strange objects and materials well-as a defencemechanism to protect the baby

even though its been pierced for a couple of years you could help to clean your piercing with a mild seasalt-solution:

make a solution of a quarter of a litre of boiling water and a half a teaspoon SEASALT or BAKING SODA.
more of the salt or soda works less.
put this solution in a cup and put the cup for 20-30 seconds against the piercing, so the piercing will soak in the solution.try to move the jewelry a little while you are doing this.
rinse off with warm water.
do this 1 or 2 times a day.
salt water soaks helps to stimulate air and blood circulation which helps healing (because now your body is probably rejecting your piercing due to change of blood with the baby, or it could be infected)

if i was you, i would just take the piercing out until you have had the baby and your hormones are all settled down after :)

hope this helps you

Jo xxx
It hurts cause you allowed someone to stick a ruddy great needle into a place that ruddy great needles shouldn't go !
sounds like it is getting infected. And as your blood is shared by baby now, I think you should take it out to prevent a bad problem
This can be ruled out as infected see your doctor fast
It sounds like it's getting infected. Be sure that you are cleaning it really good. You don't want any infection spreading to baby.
your immune system is more sensitive when you're pregnant. its an infection, but maybe you should take it off for the baby. and get it checked by a doc
Okay, so you've got a hole in your lip, which means it's open to all kinds of bacteria from both your skin, and the inside of you mouth. I don't think this is anything to do with you being pregnant, but please get it looked at in case of infection, to protect your baby.
Good luck and happy parenting! :D
its probably an infection
You should go see a doctor about it. It could be something serious.
Sounds like an infection to me - it might have nothing to do with your oral hygiene or pregnancy at all, possibly a little bit of bacteria got in there and since it's warm, moist and inaccessable, it's the perfect conditions for an infection to spring up.

It could also be a reaction to the ring/stud/whatever you have in your lip. maybe an allergy - just like what can happen if you wear earrings for too long and you start to get red, itchy, sore ears.

You should pop along to your doctor and let him/her have a look see and get fixed up - might be an idea to get rid of the piercing though. Non harm in being safe.

Congrats on le baby! =)

Why does it hurt when I pee?

Answer:
chances are you have a bladder infection or a urinary tract infection. if it's just a recent thing, start drinking massive amounts of cranberry juice, and water. The cranberry wll help remove the bacteria that's set in. If it's been more than three days, Go to the doctor. Do not wait, because it will get worse. If it's only been a day and you try the cranberry juice and it doesn't get better immediately, go to the doctor. if this is your first time, go to the doctor. Like I said, chances are its just a bladder infection or a UTI, but if you let them go too long, it will back up into your kidneys, and then you will have a kidney infection, and you will have to spend some time in the hospital. And trust me on this, it's no fun.
See a doctor.
Because your penis is too small.
You probably have an affection. would go to the doctors to get it checked out i remember when i was little and had that pain all the time.
Sounds like a urinary infection or it could be a venereal disease.
urinary tract infection, bladder infection, kidney infection...all strong possibilities...see a doctor as soon as possible or go to the Emergency Room. this will not resolve on its own. if it's not a kidney infection, it probably will be soon...you don't want to mess with your kidneys, they act as a sort of filter for your body...very important structures...please seek medical attention.
Sounds like a UTI. (Urinary tract infection.) It will not go away by itself. You need anti biotics. And you need to take them ALL, even tho you'll feel better almost immediately. And you need to get the prescription from a doctor. Sorry, bud, but we've all had to do it. :)

Why Does it feel like I have the chills, but I dont. Is that like A nervous tick?

I dont know whats going on, but lately it feels like I have a chill but it wont come out. Like I want to feel that feeling when you get the chills. I SOUND REALLY DUMB, but I can't explain it. It only happens once in a blue moon.
Answer:
You just might have lime disease. Have you spotted any ticks on you lately.

Why does it feel good when your back is scratched?

Is it the mere human closeness, or does it serve a function?
Answer:
When done by someone else, you personally have no idea what pattern or route the hand and nails is going to take, so it's always a suprise, thus it feels good.

When you do it yourself, there is no element of suprise. Subliminally, your itch sends a request to the brain, the brain instructs the nails and the nails take care of the itch.

Itch gets scratched, but it was all pre-planned.

Why does ice cream cause headaches?

Answer:
I don't know why it causes headaches, but it causes them by the roof of your mouth getting cold. If you eat ice cream make sure to eat it with the spoon facing your tongue instead of the roof of your mouth. If you are drinking a slush or eating a ice cream cone stop ever few seconds to rub your tongue against the roof of your mouth. This causes friction in order to warm the roof of your mouth. As long as the roof of your mouth doesn't get to cold you won't get a headache from eating something cold.
Because its cold and if you rush it and eat it too quickly, all the cold rush goes into your head and gives you a headache or brain-freeze
have you ever heard of a brain freeze?
the nerves in the back of your throat get crossed with the ones in your brain - so when you eat the ice cream too fast, the back of your throat starts to hurt, and your brain interprets the feeling incorrectly.
because its sooo good, it has to have a bad part too

Why does holding your breath help you stay awake?

In school, one of the tricks I used to stay awake when I became so sleepy I started nodding off was to hold my breath. After a moment of holding your breath, you get a rush of awareness and the sleepiness goes away. But once you start breathing again, the sleepiness eventually comes back. How does this effect work? Is your body producing chemicals when you hold your breath that give you a temporary boost of awareness?
Answer:
It's your body's response to danger of suffocation, it supplies adrenaline to the brain to awaken it when threatened.

Why does heroin come in different colors and textures?

I was just thinking that people, especially kids and teens, are enticed to try it because it comes in so many varieties. Does the colors of heroin signify something?
Answer:
The color of heroin indicates how pure it is. Whites are, of course, purer, and in powder form. These can be snorted. The blacks are usually like tar and comes from Mexico, and is called Mexican black tar. Heroin is a substance derived from morphine, which is derived from the seedpod fo the Asian poppy plant. Heroin was once believed to be able to cure addiction to morphine, but this no longer holds true because it has become a really serious problem in America and other countries as well.
i didnt know that
are u a crack head?
It signifies what it is cut with, Heroin i white, pure gleaming bright white. The type with coloured specks is Daz and there are plenty of Washing Poweder Addicts who have never taken Heroin out there.
This is why Prison is such a disaster as people are suddenly given Heroin or Methodone and have their first real trip courtesy of HM Plod.
Oh and if you do get and shoot up some real heroin it will probably kill you, There was a sadist in Glasgow who supplied heavily cut Heroin to people then when they annoyed him he gave them some pure, just to see them die, in agony. friendly people Drug Pushers.

Why does helium make your voice so high pitched?

Answer:
Taken from "The Naked Scientists" forum:

If you imagine your throat as a bit like an organ pipe, when the organist plays a note, one cycle of a wave, with a wavelength approximately the length of the tube, is generated inside the pipe. So when you talk you produce sound waves with wavelengths determined by the length of your throat.

The speed of a wave (c) is given by multiplying the wavelength and the frequency together (c=l.f) and this can be re-arranged to find the frequency of the sound wave (in other words how high it sounds) (f), thus : "frequency = speed divided by wavelength" or f=c/l.

But helium is less dense than the other consitutents of air and so sound travels much more quickly in helium (900 metres per second) than in air (350 metres per second). Substitute these numbers into the forumla we got above (f=c/l) and you get a value for f (helium) 2.5 times greater than f (air). As a result you voice sounds 2.5 times higher when you breathe helium.

Conversely, if you were to breathe a denser gas than air you could make your voice sound much lower.

Divers breathing a helium-rich mix (to overcome the problem of increased gas density at extreme depths) talk to their support crew using a "helium voice unscrambler" which reinforces the lower notes in their voices whilst suppressing the higher tones so that they can be understood.

Why does health begin to decline slowly once you're in the 20s+?

Is it in the genes? Environment? Why?
Answer:
Let me first correct ur perception of health. WHO (World Health Organisation) describes health as presence of physical %26 mental well being %26 not just the absence of disease. It seems u r lacking the feeling of physical %26/or mental well being because health does not begin 2 decline in 20s.
The growth of body does stop at this period but ur health does not start 2 decline so early. As long as body is able 2 reproduce the destroyed cells, the health remains ok. It remains good if u avoid health taboos like smoking %26 alcohol, over eating %26 lack of exercise.
When u have crossed middle age, ur health would start going down hill slowly as the vital organs may start showing signs of fatigue since their destroyed cells r not being replaced at a desirable rate. This land mark has a very wide margin of variation depending on the over all state of body systems of the individuals like presence/ absence of diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart diseases , cancer etc.
So, relax %26 enjoy ur 20s, 30s %26 40s---------.
Because we're ageing every day. Every day we're a day older. That's why the change is so suttle.
there is a slight decrease in metabolic function on the mid 20's. besides that the health does not decline in the healthy athletic individual
There are professional athletes performing really well on into their forties. So, I'd suggest you eat well, exercise daily and take care of yourself without becoming obsessed with it and you'll be fine. Average life expectancy for a woman in the US is about 80, so I wouldn't stress out if I were you.
It's in the lifestyle, once a Dawg is in his 20s+ he gets in a lot of vices like: Drinking, smoking and munching a lot of greasy and junk foods. And, there is also stress in work and in home. You see a 20s+ Dawg has to work inorder to survive, and surviving the 21st centrury has gotten a whole lot harder.
It's b'coz today we r living in the polluted atmosphere ,and sometimes b'coz of genes,as u know, health begin 2 decline, today we r taking too much fast food, which includes harmful things in it,everything is polluted,we even don't get fresh air, water. Our lifestyle is fully changed as compared 2 past 50 years generation.today people only work, work n work, they r always busy in doing something, they live in nuclear families, they don't get time 4 their family members n 4 friends, they eat what they get easily, not that which is healthy, they don't take sleep they need,so they r becoming old at 20+
Unless one is very sick with an illness it should not decline at that age. That is the age most doctors get there degrees and get started. If your having problems eat better and exercise more.
In my first year in pre-med school, the Doctor who was giving a lecture on longevity opened his remarks with a time bomb; " Ladies and Gentlemen, what I am about to tell you about life and living begins at the beginning. We begin to die, the minute we are born. It is a little bit like buying a new car, that has built in obsolesce with its parts. And so it is with our bodies. Some of the deterioration takes place faster with one person than someone else. It may be genetic; environmental or a combinations o both. " I never forgot that speech, !

Why does having a fan on make me sick?

Whether its a window fan, or a standing interior fan, or a ceiling fan, I always end up with an earache or a stuffy nose or a sore throat.. or all three. WHY? I am only allergic to dust and mold, and my house is clean.. so what is it about the fan that makes me feel sick?
Answer:
No matter what there is always dust in the air. And the fact is the fan blows it down on you, and you breathe it in. And what probably happens is, your nose gets stuffy first, so then your body breathes through your mouth and you throat gets irritated. But , one thing that could reduce the amount of pollen and allergens in the air, is to get a really good air conditioning filter, look for merv 11 or higher, it helped my sinuses tremendously. Good luck, you could also ask your doctor if you might wanna be on zyrtec or something.
It definitely sounds like allergies! Fans blow dust around and it's impossible to have a completely dust free home. Try Claritin OTC or see your doctor for a prescription if Claritin doesn't work. You may also want to look into a good air purifier.

Hope you feel better soon!
just because ur house is clean doesnt mean ur fan is clean.
If your fan is not extremely clean it will be blowing dust particles right at you. This may cause a stuffy nose or sore throat. Try either turning the fan away from you or set to oscilate. MAKE SURE ITS VERY CLEAN. I sleep with a fan on every night..

Why does fat tend to accumulate in the breast area?

Answer:
Because breasts are meant to have fat.
Men don't have breasts. We have chests.
Women have soft fatty breasts.

Mmmmm... This question makes me thirsty for milk.
Hormones. Estrogen is responsible for increased fat accumulation. This is why women carry more fat than men, more specifically in their breasts and hips.
Estrogen. I'm sure you've heard the relation between steroids and men getting large breasts. Your body would carry more estrogen while doing something like that (males).

Why does everyone want to be skinny like me?!?

Is it just me or am I setting a bad example for other people to be as skinny as me? I know its not on purpose, but people just keep asking me questions stuff like, "Can you give me tips on how to be as slim as you are?" They just want to be like me! I'm just natrually skinny and i do eat (i dont starve myself or anything but I did in the past.) Now other people are trying to starve themselves to get my look -_____-. I hate it! Everyone needs to get their own look!

P.S I'm 5'6 and I weigh 90 lbs and yes I do have skinny arms and skinny legs..unfortunately
Answer:
My mom always tells me that I'm painfully thin. I work at gaining wieght and I get paranoid and ask my friends "do you think I'm too thin? " (I think thin is unatractive by the way) Some of them just say that everyone else is at least 20lbs over-weight so I look thin in comparison. However in your case 5'6" @90lbs seems VERY thin.
um.. gain some weight.
and it kinda sounds like your braggin right now.
Cuase they hate the way they look
You want us all to tell you we want to be like you? You're sick, go get help. I like women with curves not looking like little boys. Grow up and fill out.
first of all u have too much time, and i have no idea y theyd wanna b like u, ur way too skinny!! u set a bad egsample to all those girls out there
wat the ****!?!?!
gain some wait
5'6 and 90 lbs is WAY TOO UNDERWEIGHT. It falls under the category of anorexia. You say you used to starve yourself in the past, but you obviously arent eating right now because your body would not keep itself that underweight. Go to the doctor, get a nutritionist, and put some meat on your bones. that is ridiculous.
i know what you mean, but i DO NOT want to b skinny. i am %26 every1 says, "ur too skinny" or "do u have a eating disorder" %26 i hate it! i eat alot %26 exersise regularly but im still too skinny! bye the way, im 4'10 %26 78 lbs. oh well, if they dont like it DEAL WITH IT. :D 鈾モ櫏鈾モ櫏
I don't want to be either as short or as skinny as you.
I like myself just fine the way I am.
And unless you're tiny-boned, 5'6 and 90 lbs is probably unhealthy.
hmm....i have 2 agree w/ thehellogoodbye u kinda sound like ur bragging unless what ur saying is true and is that bad,
1st of all ur not setting a bad example
2nd u can ignore them
3rd or if they're aking u 4 tips tell them the truth that its just natrual 4 u and ask them 2 stop bugging u cause if they really want tips tell them 2 go look on the internet
Wow, at 5'6 and 90 pounds you are dangerously underweight and this can lead to serious health problems that you may not see until years down the road. I always weighted 120 pounds in my youth and I too am 5'6. At 120 pounds I was extremely thin and so I cannot begin to imagine how thin you really are. People have become obcessed with thinness and it is a type of mental illness to desire to be thin to the point of starving ones self or purging after eating. Being thin this thin is not attractive and is every bit as repulsive as being extremely obese. Please get some help with your weight issue. You need to make sure you are properly nourished. I also think you need to surround yourself with friends that are secure with themselves and understand that to want to be this thin shows that they are mentally unstable and insecure. You do not need people in your life that think this way, especially when you admit that you have suffered with an eating disorder. I beg you to get help!
go eat at McDonalds everyday u really need to gain some weight it isnt healthy to be your weight its different if you were about 4'11 but you arent so u are under weight
Just ignore other people and don't worry about what they want to do. Take care of your own health. As long as you know you're happy with yourself, that's all that matters.
Well considering you did starve yourself, people think nit may work for them too. They may not realize it may be in their genes as well. But the reason a lot of people want to be thin can be because of today's unbelievably high expectation for how thin a woman should be or how big her boobs should or how Small her waist line is expected and many of these ideas come from supermodels and movie stars who set these impossible examples, that can be achieved in a healthy way.just tell them to keep a healthy diet! never to skip meals and to exercise, but not to go over board.
well, maybe everyone just wants to be skinny. if u saw someone with a trait u wanted wouldn't u ask them how they got it?

Why does everyone judge me by my weight?

I am:
-15 years old
-Extremely athletic
-Muscular
-Constantly eating (I'm always hungry)
Here's the problem: I'm 5'7" and only weigh 110 pounds, so when first seeing or meeting me people automatically assume I have an eating disorder.
Why does everyone hae to be so freaking judgemental?
Answer:
Because that's how people work. They have to find something to judge you on. I have a friend who is about your height and weighs about the same as you, and also eats a ton. She eats more than anyone, but stays so skinny, and she also doesn't do any sports which make people bug her even more. People don't believe her when she says "I don't have an eating disorder, I don't go home and puke after eating a ton". They still call her anorexic. Whether it's out of jealousy, or pure obnoxiousness, they still do it. Humans in general are selfish and only think about themselves. They're judgemental and hateful. It's how some people work, and it's wrong.
Why do you have an eating disorder?
Human nature. honestly If you know you don't have a problem I would not be self consious of what others are saying they are most likely insecure about themselves and therfore want to have something to say about you. people will always judge others based on looks no matter what they look like
cuz ppl dont know the real u
society these days. sheesh
Because you ARE underweight, and none of that makes it better. If you're muscular, you should weigh more.
People can't help it, it's an unfortunate flaw of human nature. Everyone has to find a flaw in someone else or see something in someone else...

People do the same for me but I'm vice versa - I'm 5'7" (last I checked about 6 months ago) and I'm like, 170ish pounds.
Well i am the same hight as you and weigh 130 pounds. I am actually very low on the bmi scale. I have to try very hard to maintain my weight. People judge you because there is a very slim chance that some is just really skinny casue they are. That's the way the world is and there is nothing we can really do to fix it. So maybe you should try to gain weight to get to 120 and people will stop judging you. Though what really matters what you think about yourself and don't ever forget that.
because only u let them judge you, if you dress and act like u have a eating disorder...den u pulled them into letting them say that. When your friends or sumone says u look like ur anirexit or however u spell it. you should be like hell na i think ur and make jokes so they kno u are really not. people are judgemental because its life. once u think sumone is judgemental u have to look at yourself .and think you are prolly judgemental also in some certain way
Well, you don 't have an eating disorder. It 's just that like since you do sports , when you eat, your food gets digested faster %26%26 it turns into energy. That 's normal.
People have been subconsciously taught to judge on sight. 5'7 and 110lbs is not common in a child your age. What is common is a high metabolism and you have to feed your body if you are burning nutrients like that. have you had a physical lately? You should see the doctor annually for a complete physical. Also ask your parents what their body type was when they were your age. Also if you are a long distance runner then you will be slim anyway. Make sure you take the initiative to not judge on site, use this as a life lesson. People are superficial you know that if you watch T.V. or read Magazines so take this situation and use it for your good. They may be judging you on site now, but what about when you fill in? Then they will clamor to be your friend because of how you look so always remember that and make sure you don't do the same whether the person is large or small...

Why does eating make me feel sick?

Many foods make me feel sick. Especially fruits, and foods that have lables on them about claiming to be healthy. Yogurt makes me the sickest. Whenever I eat yogurt, I always feel like throwing up. Even drinking water has made me sick.

It's not just food that makes me feel sick, though. Amoxicillin also makes me feel extremely sick. My mother is violently allergic to penicillin, but I don't know if I am.

The only thing that has never made me sick is an ice cube. Cold things tend to make me feel better, and so do things that aren't liquid or squishy. Salt sometimes makes me feel better, too.

My doctors have always told me that I'm healthy, but I don't think they really care if I am or not, either. I mean, one day I told my doctor that I couldn't hold a pencil because my wrists hurt so badly, and he just said, "Oh. Well, that's probably not good." A different doctor from around here had roughly the same reaction. It's irritating. Anyway..!

So, yeah... Why do I get sick?
Answer:
Maybe you have something wrong with your throat that is triggering the gag reflex? I know it's hard to get it checked out -- you need a concerned doctor to get a good recommendation to a specialist, but it sounds like those are few and far between.

You might be better off with a holistic practioner. They often know what they are doing medically, but also can work with you mentally. It may be that part of your problem is in your head -- and it's disgusting that doctors dismiss that. "Oh, it's all in your head." Well, maybe, but it still hurts, doesn't it? Educate yourself so you know how to identify a complete quack, but be open to the experience.

Even the best doctor in the world won't know everything -- and it sounds like you have some doctors who are just putting in time and collecting their fees. You can do a lot for yourself by educating yourself about what's out there.

Why does dark chocolate make me sneeze?

Every time I eat dark chocolate, I sneeze. Sometimes one piece of dark chocolate will make me sneeze multiple times. Sometimes it will take a while before I sneeze, and other times it will take only a few seconds. I never have this problem with regular milk chocolate. Why? I鈥檓 not allergic to the chocolate in any way, shape, or form, and I have no other food allergies. Anybody else have this problem?
Answer:

Why does cleaning my right ear with a Q-Tip feel so good (I mean really euphoric)?

Is it the way I twirl the Q-tip... is there a part of my inner ear that gets touched that causes bliss
Answer:
I too find the Q-Tip blissful.
i don't have an answer, but i totally agree! we should find out...good question!
I agree too, and I think that we might be overthinking it. why not just be happy that its awesome?
Settle down, don't do it in public if it gives you an O.
Lol - I love the way it feels too! probably just extremly sensitive nerve-endings inside

Why does Asprin smell so bad?

I have a migraine and so I am nausiated.. I go to get some asprin and i open the bottle and geta nasty wiff of stuff..why does asprin smell so much more than all the rest of pills?
Answer:
By today's standards, aspirin is a very old-fashioned drug (though it still works!) It uses acetic acid, the acid that is in vinegar, so sometimes it smells vinegary, especially if it's old (that means it's breaking down, losing its potency).
probably because the aspirin is too old.as it breaks down there is a marked odor. Get a new bottle.
i've never took time in smelling aspirin--but i've never noticed any bad smell when i take them.maybe your pills are expired or something.
because of the chemicals they use to make it..duh
Aspirins usually aren't coated as many other pills are. ~
Buy some "enteric coated" aspirin. It disolves in your intestines instead of your stomach and doesn't cause upset stomach or bleeding and you won't get any odor from the bottle.

Why does an anorexic person have to be in a mental institution.. but a severely overweight person doesn't ??

Answer:
That's a good point...what I don't understand is how people react towards anorexic people...saying they have a serious problem and they need professional help but to people who are overweight most react with disgust and don't really care to suggest any type of help or treatment.
Very Very Good POINT!
sometimes they are.

plus i really thought mental institutions were done away with? I think theres "Facilities" now, but they're vastly different from a mental instution.
probably cos anorexia will kill you a lot qucker that obesity. Very interesting thought though.
good point. atm in this country there is much debate about a similar subject.

smoking is greatly discouraged by the state, there are laws stating that cigarette packages should have texts on them like 'smoking kills' and 'Contents: 40g Tar'
extra taxes are raised on cigarettes. The state is now proposing similar actions to be taken against fastfoods chains and snackbar's.

its much better to simply try to change the mindset of people though, getting a more active society. for some reason many people in todays society think its normal for them to not practice any sports at all.
Anorexia, as you know is an eating disorder...

Aside from the physical risks, it is normally accompanied by low self image, depression and possibly other psychological problems.

If a person is at the state where they are killing themselves (very rapidly) and is unable to reason this out in their own mind, then they probably need serious care.

While you could also reason that really overweight people also have a serious eating disorder - which is true, normally the immediate danger to that person is pretty slim - what is more of a concern is their long term health.
because they are in the state institution called the hospital where I work. Trust me people need to stop eating after they get over 300 or 400 lbs, the human body is just not meant to be that huge.
Maybe because Anorexic people usually think that they are fat or need to take control of themselves by doing so or maybe that they dont deserve to eat which is all in their heads...Overweight people eat (and become fat) because they like to eat...

I mean im no doctor, but just an idea.
It depends on the situation. Anorexia is a mental condition/disease, it needs to be treated in such a facility. Severely overweight people are not necessarily mentally ill, physically, yes, but not always mentally. There are some mental conditions which cause one to gain weight, but the majority of the time, it's more of a physical issue.
Excessive Compulsive overeating is an eating disorder also, but I think anorexia is treated in a facility more often because an anorexic is in more immediate danger than an overweight person. Of course they are both unhealthy, but the consequences of anorexia are much faster

Why does a mans facial hair grow faster than on his head?

Answer:
The answer is gravity...

It grows down faster than it grows up due to gravity.

g-day!
Facial hair is on the head..
This question has already been asked today, sorry.
Men fertlize their face, DONOT ask me how,lol
You should be glad it grows faster on his head, rather than anywhere else...
Because it's far more annoying that way.
FATTY TISSUE.
Hotvw says men fertilise their face and does not know how! why it is all the bulls**t that comes out of their mouths. just joking guys!

Why do your ears ring?

why is it that your ears ring? and dont say because people are talking about you neither haha i want to know the real reason.
Answer:
"Ringing" in the ears is called tinnitus. It happens when delicate cells inside your ear that send sound messages to your brain are injured or over-stimulated. These cells have projections on them that look like hairs, and they are called "hair cells". The perception of sound starts when pressure waves moving through the air reach your ears. This causes your eardrums to vibrate, and these movements are transferred to the fluid in the inner ear, where the hair cells are located.
Movement of the inner ear's fluid leads to bending of the tiny hairs on the hair cells. This bending excites the hair cells, and causes them to send electrical signals to your brain through a nerve called the "auditory nerve". Your brain interprets the electrical signals from the auditory nerve as sound. The ringing sound of tinnitus is often a high squeal, like the sound of a computer monitor, but it can also be a low roar, and it can affect one or both ears. Usually your ears ring for a brief time after youve been exposed to loud noise, but for about 44 million Americans, ringing in the ears is a constant and annoying problem. It most often happens because people expose themselves to damaging levels of sound over long periods of time and dont protect their ears. You can tell a sound is too loud for safety if you have to shout to make yourself heard over it. Other causes of tinnitus can be an ear canal plugged with ear wax, abnormal blood pressure, allergies, ear infections, medications, and even specific kinds of food! If you have persistent tinnitus, you should tell your doctor about it.
its your phone
Echos in your eardrums.
Left over sound..
Because someone is talking about you!
it's sapost to mean someone is talking bout you
When you hear higher pitches your ears rining means that the inner ear is dying and once it stops you'll never hear that frequency again
I heard that it is because someone is thinking about you.
because people SCREAM in my ear.

IM SICK OF IT STOP IT!!!!
there's a man hitting a gong in your head.
lol that only has happend to me one time.. so weired huh
=]

best of luck. my wishes to ya.!
Sometimes when you listen to loud music (and I mean really loud) your ears ring. Even if you are in the middle of a screaming crowd..
It happens when delicate cells inside your ear that send sound messages to your brain are injured or over-stimulated.
I think it is because the noise ecos in your eardrum.
Yea, i heard that too. My ears would ring when i was a kid and i had water in there.
mines don't ring but sometimes they feel like there is water on my ears. why?
Ear infection
its after you have listened to loud music and its a sign that u are losing ur hearing and if it happens to u alot then i suggest u take urself to a doctor
Because when someone talks your eardrum vibrates in order to hear.
usually a spike in blood pressure or exposure to loud noises for a long period of time.
i thought your ears burn when someone is talking about you , must be just uk saying...they ring because

Ear infection
Fluid in the ears or wax in the ear
Aging
Ear trauma (such as from the noise of planes, firearms, or loud music)...
There is a medical conditions that cause this sometimes. It is called tinnitus.

Why do you yawn when you're tired or bored?

Ok, so I know that when you yawn, it means you need more oxygen. So why do you need more oxygen when you're bored, or when you're tired?
Answer:
Good question Christen. When we become tired, blood circulation slows and pools in vienules (very small viens). We instinctively stretch our muscles to work and squeeze the vienules to push the pooled blood out to circulate again. (This function is all hard-wired in the brain.) There is a great amount of blood circulation in the face, because this is where most of our senses are. As funny as it sounds, yawning is a way of stretching the face.
Because like when your active, your musles work hard. It works the same way when your bored or tired. its your body and musles relaxing. Or simply because your tired and need sleep.
I guess because when you're bored or tired you usually aren't very active.
i think it's probably that ur brain lacks oxygen when u r tired and u yawn so that u take in more oxygen.

Why do you yawn a lot when you feel nauseas?

Answer:
Yawning is a biological response. It usually signifies excess carbon dioxide in the system, and is a great way to cleanse the lungs. A secondary funtion is to release gas from the stomach. You may have noticed that a yawn is often followed by a burp. When you feel nauseous, this is one of the body's ways of trying to get rid of whatever is bothering you.
i dont, i dry heave when im nausous
Probably to take in more air.
If you breathe in %26 out your mouth when nauseated, it will help quelch the feeling, usually. (temporarily)
Well, one, you need air to breathe so that's why you yawn ANYTIME. But probably the reason you yawn in this situation, is because you are sssooo tired because you have to wake-up a lot in the middle of the night and and you don't get as much sleep! The last possibility is that it's just one of YOUR symptoms when you feel nauseas!
i have never heard of or seen people yawn when they're nauseous. it must be something your body does.

Why do you want to work here? Why should we hire you over the others waiting to be interviewed?

applying for hospital job advice some best answers
Answer:
The things that make people great at what they do are not training, talent, or even the lesser incentives of pay and perks.

The one thing that makes someone great at what they do is love. Love makes you work longer, harder, faster than anything else. It keeps you going when you have no energy, it makes your mind work better, and puts fire into your bones to work stronger longer.

What you want to do is speak the truth. Lies are easy to detect, and profit neither you nor the employer. Your integrity is not for sale.

Speak the truth, and tell 1) how love overcomes all other incentives, and 2) where the job overlaps with your love.
it's a mind game so better tell them that
i really don't want to work here, i got a better offer on the other hospital but since a friend of mine is working here and she/he ask me to show my capabilities in this hospital, i can't say no to her/him because we're best of friends since we were young.

you don't need to hire me at this time, but let me show you how capable i am over the others.
for the first question,i know best physicians of this city is working in this hospital and working along with them is a golden oppurtunity for me for the second one i am a workalcoholic and love my profession very much so that i can give my dedicated work to this hospital

Why do you need to eat lots of ice cream after you get your tonsils out?

Also how about when you get your appendix out without it bursting do you need to eat a lots of ice cream too?
Answer:
You don't NEED to eat lots of ice cream. But it's hard to eat after you've had your tonsils out. Your throat is really sore, and the cold ice cream feels good on your throat.

Also eating ice cream just makes a person feel better, don't you think? 8^)

When a little kid is going in the hospital to have his tonsils out, that's a very scary experience for a little kid, so his parents tell him he'll get to eat all the ice cream he wants.

Having your appendix out is completely different. Ice cream has nothing to do with it. 8^)
Helps to reduce the swelling and soreness of the throat.it tastes good!
Ice cream helps the swelling after the removel of the tonsils. Not sure abt the appendix.
Ice cream helps sooth the sore throat and help with swelling after surgery.

I wouldn't advice ice cream after an appendectomy.
you don't NEED to eat ice cream. soft food are recommended to decrease pain to the surgery site and ice cream is soft (and cold).
be sure to ask your surgeon about discharge instructions, including a diet.
I'm not sure about the appendix, but as for the tonsils, you eat a lot of ice cream because that's all you can really eat (soft, liquidity foods). Not just that but most kids love ice cream and the cold ice cream soothes the soreness most people have after having them removed.
you do not eat lots of ice cream after your tonsils are taken out. you actually do not want to eat anything at all. your body just doesnt want to eat. after about three or four days is when your body feels ready to eat anything and that is when soft food is recommended up to two weeks after depending on how you feel. rarely do people eat lots of icecream after tonsils are out but some do. and no you do not eat lots of ice cream after your appendix is taken out without bursting.
Firstly, ice cream is cooling on the tissues in the throat, tends to limit the bleeding during the repair phase, and helps you swallow without a lot of pain.
As for appendix - you don't need help in swallowing after your appendix is removed, so a call for ice cream is likely to fail. Nurses and mothers aren't all that silly!
I always thought that the ice cream thing was an evil prank that they played on unsuspecting children to get them not to be afraid to have their tonsils out!

I know after my tonsils were taken out, ice cream did not really look that good.
I don't think one necessarily NEEDS to eat lots of ice cream after a tonsillectomy but ice cream is easy to swallow and the coldness helps to soothe the throat.

As far as your appendix goes, I would assume you could look really pitiful and gets lots of ice cream if that was what you wanted.
do not worry, you can eat so much ice creme how much you want

Why do you get the hiccups when you've been drinking?

Answer:
Drinking things to fast or swallowing air are usually what triggers hiccups.
It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with drinking. Nobody knows the cause, but for some reason, the diaphragm goes into spasms.
because you've been drinking.....
I don't drink but I get hiccups when I eat fast. The air gets trapped bettween the food that i'm cheweing down.. and I think that's a way it gets out? or do you have to fart to get it out.. I Have no idea..
Well you puke or throw up when you drink to much some times you cant throw up so you hiccup!
YOUR LUNGS ARE GASPING FOR AIR

Why do you get the "munches" when you smoke marijuana?

Why when you smoke marijuana, you get the urge to eat?
Answer:
I've heard two theories. One, that I think is wrong, is that smoking marijuana lowers your blood sugar, which will make you hungry

The second one is that cannabinoid receptors in the brain (what marijuana works on) play a part in controling hunger. I agree more with this one.

The source page talks about the second one.
You don't get the 'munchies' when you are smoking marijuana. You get them after you're through smoking LOL!
Maybe you can find a botonist who'll reply on this one. There
definately is a trigger reaction, to wanting food afterward tho.

interesting article, it answers your question and some others that you might be thinking.

Why do you get goosebumps when you get in a hot bath?

I thought goosebumps are supposed to appear when you're cold.
Answer:
They do.

If the bath water is hotter than your body temperature it's like saying your body is colder than your bath water. Therefore, your body displays goosebumps in an effort to warm you up because it think's you're too cold. It's the extreme temperature change from hot to cold that your body is reacting to.

Hope I explained that clearly enough cos my memory is a bit rusty :)
When u're excited!
They do. But the sudden rapid change in temperature confuses the body's temperature control centre (the hypothalamus), so it does what it thinks it should be doing, ie giving you goosebumps!
Its from when we used to be birds, its to release the heat and cool you down.
Like an elephant flapping its ears.

Why do you get constipated when your tummy is exposed to the cold?

Why do you feel sick for those brief 10 minutes when yr wearing shorts and a tank top in the summer with the AC on and a fan blowing on you? Just wondering.
Answer:
It's the sudden change of temperature. It's similar to pasteurizing milk to kill bacteria.

Why do you feel sick after not eating for a long period of time?

Answer:
you feel sick because your stomach is empty so it is sending signals to your brain. it is also sending gases while sending signals. the gases in your stomach are acidic so when they go up your esophagus, they make you sick.
your stomach is also digesting itself slowly
Not eating is fasting. After fasting a while, your body goes into a super cleansing mode. To get rid of toxins in you it must put them back into your blood.

Fasting is used to cure all sorts of health problems and lose weight. Site below has quotes from 17 MDs explaining what you asked about in a more scientific way.
glucose levels go down. body and brain need glucose to function.

Why do you feel calmer after cutting yourself?

Why is it that I feel better after I cut myself? Why does the sight of blood make me feel better? Does this happen to you?
Answer:
when the body is injured it does release endorphins that is the bodies natural pain killer. It is the bodies way to control what is going on with its organs. In fact the skin is the largest organ of the body and also has its own system.
Be careful with the cutting because it will cause shock if you get into the wrong artery.
Maybe the pain in your cut triggers pain killers in your brain (maybe endorphins?).

Or the actual act is satisfying because 1) you control it and 2) you complete it. Just like over eating or under eating.

Just a theory. I used to pully my hair out (not to the point of baldness, but it was harmful)...
i know me to,but i like to cut other people i dont like pain
The exact opposite happens with me. If I was a sporadic nutwad, I'd say that you were either emo or a vampire.
There might be 2 reasons-

Reason 1- Physical trauma releases beta-endoprhins which cause relaxation, a state of well-being and numb pain. The good thing, I guess, is the beta-endorphins have been known to boost the immune system. So it's pretty much okay to cut yourself. Just when you do it, don't cut your veins.

Reason 2-You might have control issues, not that you are too controlling, but not enough. So the fact you can do something that is by your own control may make you happy.

And no this does not happen to me, but after an injury I sometimes feel more hyper than calm or relaxed. I am a bit hyper out of injuries as well. And I'm controlling enough. The sight of blood usually means nothing to me due to the fact I have chronic nose bleeds and I'm pretty used to it.

I am more of a believer of reason 1, mostly because it's easier for me to believe in scientific reasons. But whatever helps you is good I guess.
You need and deserve help, dear.
There *are* reasons why you began cutting yourself, but there
are even *better* reasons to get the help you need, the time
and attention you need, and stop the cutting.
There is a good web site with information that will at least
serve as a beginning or first step for you--that is:

I ask you please to at least visit the site and read the information and insights they offer.

There are so many lonely, sad, and suffering people in our

I'm a little worried that not one of these answers I have seen... no one asked why? You SHOULD NOT be cutting yourself in the first place... please talk to someone... even a close friend or family member.
Frankly, you should seek help. Feeling better after cutting yourself is NOT a good sign...or a healthy one. You should really seek professional help before this gets too out of hand and you end up cutting more often and deeper until you almost kill yourself.

Why do you fast before recieving an anaesthetic?

Why do you fast before recieving an anaesthetic?
Answer:
To reduce the chance of aspirating.
Some people throw up. They could inhale it (as the previous poster said) and damage their lungs.
Some people get sick from anesthesia, even violently sick. So if your in surgery and you get sick there is nothing for you to puke up. They also stick a tube down your throat to help you breath so if you did puke it would probably push the tube up and out of your throat. Puking+tube=bad. Also if your on an empty stomach and you do get sick it won't be as bad afterwards. When ever I have surgery they always bring me a warm gingerale and crackers even though I never get sick. It just helps and its good to have something to eat when you havn't eaten for 12+ hours!
If you have food in your stomach before surgery, you may throw up {Aspirate} because of the anesthesia, in the middle of surgery and that's what they are trying to avoid.
if your stomach is not empty when you have an anesthetic, if you vomit you may aspirate and die

Why do you eat ice when you have low iron?

Answer:
Chewing ice is a symptom of iron anemia, it's commonly referred to as pica. Along with chewing ice, you get cravings for paper too.

Chewing ice is a symptom, not a cause or interference. There is not a lot of research on pica, but one reports about Black women in the south with pica who ate laundry starch and clay. Your body is telling you need iron. Give it some. The paper and ice eating will stop when your iron levels near normal, which is 13 to 15 for menstruating females.
i don't
I think it has something to do with the taste.
i have only ever heard of it causing..usually children to eat ..dirt and mud..must be because thers iron in it..im not sure but i will search the net for some answers

Why do you close you're eyes when you sneeze?

Answer:
well...it's a "good idea" to close your eye when sneezing since sneezing is a means by which your nose gets rid of irritants...and you wouldn't want those irritants coming out from your nose going into your eyes.
So they don't pop out.
it's just a body reaction. it's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open.
Some people can sneeze with their eyes open and some people can鈥檛. Sneezing is a reflex and so is closing our eyes. We have no control over whether or not we close our eyes when we sneeze. Some people don鈥檛 have reflex, so when they sneeze then their eyes won鈥檛 close. Some people try to close their eyes so when they sneeze their eyes won鈥檛 pop out. Your eyes don鈥檛 really pop out. People without the reflex to sneeze with their eyes open can try to train themselves to sneeze with their eyes open. One good way to do this is if when you sneeze you hold your eyes open.
So your'e eyes don't pop out of your head. Seriously.
The pressure would blow them out of your head.
No one knows for sure - it's just the way we're wired.
our eye balls would pop out other wise. That would suck
because people automatically try to protect their eyes, and like someone else said it is a body reaction.
Everything in your body stops when you sneeze. And yes, your eyes will pop out. Dont worry though, it is instinct to have you eyes close before you sneeze. I heard that a sneeze comes out at like 100+ mph!! So yeah, A lot of force!
l don`t and l suffer from allergies
there are muscles called "occuliceps" which are behind your eyes, and are constantly trying to push them out of your head. Your eyes are actually connected to your tail-bone to keep them from shooting out. When you sneeze, your tailbone naturally moves upward, releasing the tension behind your eyes, which make your eyes naturally want to burst out of your head. Your eyes close to prevent them from spatting into your classmate's spaghetti at lunchtime.

Why do you close you're eyes when you sleep?

Answer:
To protect them.Your eyes are insulted each day by the wind, weather, smoking, etc. They are complex and need rest like the rest of our body.So it is natural we shut our eyes when we turn off our brain, so to speak. Nitey.
Keeps the bugs out and it is easier to see dreams on a blank screen.
So they won't dry out. duhh!
If we didn't, our eye balls would shrivel up like little raisins in the sockets. YUK
its darker
Because your eyes need to be constantly wet. Otherwise, they can actually dry out! That's why it's hard to win staring contests. That's also why you blink! It's an automatic reflex to keep your eyes hydrated. There's fuid on the inside of your skin that helps do that.
apparently i don't close my eyes when i sleep because my husband recently noticed that i just look like I'm awake and just blinking ... so i asked my mom and she said that yes i do sleep with my eyes open and that i always have even when i was a baby
bit of a sciency answer for u but in order to sleep u need a build up of a chemical serotonine, which is destroyed by light. so by closing ur eyes ur blocking off light. also by ur eye being open it distracts u n keeps u awake by sending messages to ur brain. closing ur eyes also prevents dirt etc getting in ur eye.
To shut down the visual sense so you can rest.
can't sleep with them open
my sister sleeps with her eyes half open.
it was freaky.

we used to make faces at her while she slept. haha.
now her daughter is like that too... i won't do that to her.
so u don waste your time blinkin

Why do women wiggle their feet when their legs are crossed?

I notice when woman have one leg placed over the other their foot that is crossed over they will wiggle it real fast from righ to left and then stop and then do it again a minute later why is that answers from woman only
Answer:
Don't know but i love when they do it wearing 4" high heels
Crap! I wasn't even realizing I was doing it until I read you question! How's that for an answer? Just burning off some energy...LOL!
nervous habit
because the weight of the "over' leg will put the other leg or foot to sleep...so we wiggle to keep the blood flowing
I'm a guy, but I always assumed it was for 2 reasons:

1. To keep the foot from falling asleep (the knee of the leg underneath is sorta in the "kneepit" of the leg on top, constricting blood flow down into the top foot), and...

2. That little bit of motion draws your eye to her legs subconsciously.
its a nervous habit, subseptical in women.
They cross there feet to pleasure their vagina.
I think its because it constantly moves their leg maybe helping to prevent those spider veins.
umm well I dont do that but for those who do I'd have to agree with that other dude " That little bit of motion draws your eye to her legs subconsciously."

Why do woman like to sit with their legs crossed?

I DON'T LOL !!
Just another one of those things to make you guys ask questions and wonder about.

Why do we yawn?

Answer:
I was always under the belief that it was you catching your breath again because as you start to drift into a sleep, you're breathing slows down. This catches that back up since we're actually awake and not sleeping...

But it's funny how addictive a yawn is, I read the question and yawned. x.x;

-Tim
Technically it is a lack of oxygen. Mainly because we are tired and bored.
cause were sleepy! lol
we yawn because we are breathing slow at that moment not b/c we are tierd
We either yawn because we are tired or bored, and when you yawn your eyes get watery so you fall asleep faster
Not much is known about why we yawn, or if it even serves any useful function. In fact, very little research has been done on the subject because for most of us, yawning is not a problematic behavior. Although not yet fully understood, yawning involves complex interactions between unconscious parts of the brain and the body (1). A long standing belief is that yawning is caused by fatigue, drowsiness, or boredom. But as the fields of brain science and behavior explode in growth and research, scientists are discovering that there is much more to the simple act than we previously thought.
In the quest to discover why we yawn, scientists have discovered many interesting facts. Yawning is contagious: not only do 55 percent of people yawn within five minutes of seeing someone else yawn, but blind people yawn more after hearing an audio tape of people yawning.
lack of oxygen or we're just tired thats why we yawn
What's behind this mysterious epidemic of yawning? First, let's look at what a yawn is. Yawning is an involuntary action that causes us to open our mouths wide and breathe in deeply. We know it's involuntary because we do it even before we are born. Research shows that 11-week-old fetuses yawn.

While the dictionary tells us that yawning is caused by being fatigued, drowsy or bored, scientists are discovering that there is more to yawning than what most people think. Not much is known about why we yawn or if it serves any useful function, and very little research has been done on the subject. However, there are several theories about why we yawn. Here are the three most common theories:

The Physiological Theory -- Our bodies induce yawning to drawn in more oxygen or remove a build-up of carbon dioxide. This theory helps explain why we yawn in groups. Larger groups produce more carbon dioxide, which means our bodies would act to draw in more oxygen and get rid of the excess carbon dioxide. However, if our bodies make us yawn to drawn in needed oxygen, wouldn't we yawn during exercise? Robert Provine, a psychologist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a leading expert on yawning, has tested this theory. Giving people additional oxygen didn't decrease yawning and decreasing the amount of carbon dioxide in a subject's environment also didn't prevent yawning.
The Evolution Theory -- Some think that yawning is something that began with our ancestors, who used yawning to show their teeth and intimidate others. An offshoot of this theory is the idea that yawning developed from early man as a signal for us to change activities.
The Boredom Theory -- In the dictionary, yawning is said to be caused by boredom, fatigue or drowsiness. Although we do tend to yawn when bored or tired, this theory doesn't explain why Olympic athletes yawn right before they compete in their event. It's doubtful that they are bored with the world watching them
think it is a reaction to increase the oxygen flow into the body if it is lacking. If you get tired you get sluggish and breathe shallower so you yawn to increase the Oxygen. Don't quote me on this though - my source is not exactly reliable
Because someone else did.
Yawning is the body's way of reducing drowsiness. Drowsiness is created by the brain, to enable sleeping. The brain is run by oxygen. Yawning is to gather a large amount of oxygen for your brain, to help it function faster and control drowsiness.

Why do we stretch after we wake up or occasionally at other times?

Answer:
your muscles want to MOVE!! We need to stretch regularly to keep muscles flexible.
I don't know... but it feels sooo good in the morning.
Stretching also oxygenates your muscles and helps get rid of the waste products they've produced during the night.
i have no idea, i've never stretched after i wake up. i think we just do it to loosen up tbh, if you're tense and that, i think it's just a natural thing to do to stretch ^^

Why do we sneeze?
